Gianni Versace was an Italian Fashion Designer born on 2nd December, 1946. He was also the founder of an international fashion house named Gianni Versace S.p.A. This international fashion house deals in the production of fashion accessories, varied perfumes, cosmetics, make-up accessories, furnishings of home and outfits. The designer used to design costumes and outfits for theaters and movies and was a fast friend of the eminent personality Sir Elton John.Ever cheerful and elegant, the designer and his companion Antonio D'Amicocould be frequently seen in the international parties. Sadly, this gay designer was brutally murdered when he was 50 years of age outside his home in Miami Beach by a serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

The elegant Italian Fashion Designer was born in the city of Reggio di Calabria in Italy. Here, he was brought up with his one elder brother named Santo and a younger sister Donatella with their father and mother. His mother was an eminent dressmaker named Francesca. Gianni also had an elder sister named Tina who unfortunately died when she was twelve years old due to an unsuccessful treatment of infection of tetanus.

Versace began his training at a very tender age by helping his mother looking for valuable stones, helping his mother find precious stones and gold plait  so that they could be embroidered in the dresses which she used to design and make. The designer also studied architecture. After that he moved to the second largest city of Italy i.e. Milan at when he was 25 to become a fashion designer.

The knits created by the sizzling designer caught the eyes of the head hunters at Genny and Callaghan in the period of mid-seventies. He was then employed by Complice for designing their elegant collections of leather and suede. After a few years, Versace, as a result of the encouragement he got from his success, exhibited his first ever Signature Collection for women at the Milan’s Palazzo della Permanente Art Museum. Thereafter, he presented his first collection of menswear in the month of September of the same year. Gianni accompanied Jorge Saud after his presentation of first menswear collection. Versace opened his first boutique in Via della Spiga of Milan, in the year 1978. The designer was also a great admirer of Andy Warhol, Ancient Roman Art, Greek Art and Modern Abstract Art.

Gianni Versace got to meet his companion Antonio D’Amico who was a model, in the year 1982. Both were able to carry out a long term relationship that remained for a period of 11 years until the sad demise of Gianni Versace. Throughout that period Antonio used to design outfits for the company as a result of which he became the head designer of Istante and Versus Sport. Antonio was entitled for a pension of 50 million lire (which approximately amounts up to $26,000)   and the right to reside in any of the residences that he Versace had in Italy and United States according to the will of Versace.

 Gianni did not have his own kids, therefore, he adored his nieces and nephews like anything. He had altogether two nieces and two nephews.

The elegant designer was brutally murdered at the steps of his mansion at Miami Beach. He was actually shot by the serial killer Andrew Cunanan when Versace was enjoying a regular morning walk at the Ocean Drive on 15^th July 1997 at the age of 50. Andrew Cunanan, Versace’s murderer, shortly died after this by committing suicide with the same gun which he used for shooting Gianni. The designer’s dead body was cremated. After this, his ashes were ashes sent back to his property of his family which is close to Cernobbio, Italy.

Later, in September, 1997, Santo Versace and Jorge Saud were announced as the official CEOs of the Versace Company which were his brothers and his sister Donatella Versae became the head designer of the company.
